Social Responsibility

Aware of its role in preserving the environment and in caring for people, the Bahian mining industry has constructed a trusting and respectful relationship with the communities and regions it operates within. More than 18 thousand hectares of forestation have been either preserved or reforested by Sindimiba Associates.

In addition, all Sindimiba associates develop and support social and ecological engagement projects in the communities and regions where they operate. These projects assist in their respective communities’ development, and to-date more than 100 projects have been carried out or supported, benefitting more than 110,000 residents encompassing children, teens and adults alike (Analysis conducted by SINDIMIBA; 2019).

Through the belief that the preservation of nature is a fundamental factor in guaranteeing a brighter future, the Bahian mining industry works with eco-friendly operations planning, optimizing its use of water and energy, controlling emissions, utilizing and minimizing waste, and promoting responsible disposal and recycling of raw materials. Today we are happy to report a reduction in water consumption as high as 93%, as much as a 70% reduction in CO 2 emissions, and up to 50% reduction in the volume of mineral processing waste. This is made possible due to our perennial investments in technology consistently centered around promoting an equilibrium between resource utilization and the preservation of the planet, as nature is our largest source of wealth
